USU Debate
Just a few updates about what I am doing recently.
These past two days, there is a debate competition being held at Universitas Sumatera Utara. Wanted to join as a participant because I have not been debating for a long long time, but too bad they only allow students from the university.
Yet, guess what? They offered me to be an adjudicator instead.
I have adjudicated debates before, but they were done in ELDS classes. Or in other words, they were high school standard debates. So, this is a totally new experience for me. I realized that university standard is not much higher when compared to high school ones, but it is still marginally more challenging.
I am actually satisfied with my own performance as an adjudicator. Actually, I was afraid that I am not qualified enough. But I think I have done a pretty good job at justifying my decision, sufficiently explained my rationale to give the victory point to a team over another.
Not bad – took two days, judged six rounds, received an equivalent of approximately S$ 22.00, no complaints reached my ears.
